Design Coordinator - Warrington Due to an increase in work the position of Design Coordinator has become available to join our growing design team on our United Utilities MSP Framework. United Utilities have awarded Costain a new Managed Service Provider (MSP) framework contract. Under the contract Costain provide the overall management and delivery of United Utilities' larger-scale water and wastewater asset maintenance activities across the entirety of its network, including 96 water treatment and 575 wastewater treatment sites, which serves over six million people in the Northwest of England. This is a home-based role with attendance to our client office in Warrington, Costain's Manchester Aviator Way office, and site & design offices across the United Utilities region as required. Key Responsibilities Support & administer the framework Design Management function as a service to the 'cradle to grave' Project Managers, including helping to define design scope, parameters and constraints with client stakeholders Advise on and implement design strategies for programmes and projects, including advising on the appointment of designers which will include Costain in-house resources, external consultants, specialists, and design and build contractors across a multitude of design disciplines Collate and plan resource demand for engineering and design resource forecasting Package management of design commissions to ensure delivery to programme, budget and quality, providing the primary interface with the work package delivery teams Support a culture of safe, buildable, easily commissioned, and operable design solutions through administration of suitable design review processes including HAZOP, ALM, and Eliminating Harm Monitor compliance with UU technical standards and guide designers to an appropriate commercial focus with a high level of challenge on project scope and optimal design Support the MSP team in mitigating key project and programme risks; identifying blockers/issues and contributing to developing solutions to resolve them About You Strong people and collaboration skills Technical understanding of Water and Wastewater processes and asset types Commercial and contractual appreciation to support required commercial outcomes Good problem-solving skills, able to provide efficient, effective solutions Proactive and able to prioritise and reprioritise tasks Good understanding of a project lifecycle including commissioning, & operation/maintenance Experience and knowledge of CDM (2015) Regulations Inquisitive with a passion for best-in-class performance Qualifications and Training HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering discipline Post graduate Design Management experience preferably in the Water Industry in a Mechanical, Electrical ICA or Civils discipline either in a maintenance, design or capital delivery role Progressing towards a Chartered professional review with relevant chartered body Full UK Driving licence About Costain At Costain, we help to improve people's lives by creating connected, sustainable infrastructure that enables people and the planet to thrive.
