Job summary Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown maintenance to all aspects of electrical plant, distribution and equipment including work of a technical and/or non-routine nature. Perform duties covering the testing and fault finding on a wide range of electrical engineering plant and equipment, including but not restricted to; electrical distribution, lighting, fire detection, building control & automation, standby generators, laundry equipment, nurse call systems, data communications, steam raising plant and associated equipment, kitchen equipment and theatre ventilation services. In addition to maintenance & emergency repairs the post holder will be required to carry out minor installation & improvements works across all of QE Facilities' contracted sites. All work must be carried out in compliance with organisational & customer safety standards and national legislation. Cover shifts if required (sickness & holiday). Will be required to participate in an on-call rota to maintain 24/7 services. Occasionally engaged in heavy repairs and manipulation of equipment in restricted spaces. Main duties of the job To respond to requests for repairs, faults and emergencies involving all aspects of electrical, mechanical & building services - The post holder will be required to assess the situation in the event of such requests or emergency situations and as a first measure, act to ensure safety of public/patients/other staff then to either affect repairs or summon assistance as required. QE Facilities operates a multi skilled policy and the post holder is required to demonstrate a high degree of cross trade flexibility beyond the boundaries of their core skills including Mechanical and Building Maintenance works supported with in-house training. The post holder will be expected to carry out minor mechanical/building work, in connection with their main duties at the discretion of the supervising officer, which, under extreme conditions shall include gritting and snow clearing. Actively participate in the operation of the QE Facilities helpdesk, including the timely completion of work dockets via a PDA (hand held computer) this includes job sheets with a Tradesman's report detailing time taken and materials used for costing purposes.
