As the Communications & Editorial Officer, you will play a vital role in creating, editing, and proofing high-quality written materials that effectively communicate complex water infrastructure projects to a diverse audience. You will support the Strategic Engagement Lead in developing a range of digital and print communication assets, including stakeholder newsletters, press releases, website content, and consultation documents. You will also work closely with design teams, manage the sign-off process for key messages, and contribute to engagement events and webinars.
Key Responsibilities
* Write, edit, and proof a variety of content, including stakeholder newsletters, feature stories, press releases, and consultation engagement materials.
* Support the sign-off process for key communications collateral, such as reports, brochures, videos, and podcasts.
* Brief and collaborate with design teams to develop engaging communication materials.
* Organise and attend external meetings and community events, engaging directly with stakeholders.
* Host online webinars and workshops, preparing slide packs and other event materials.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, partner organisations, and external stakeholders.
About You
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented, and highly organised communicator with excellent writing and editorial skills. Whether you have a background in journalism, editorial, or communications, what matters most is your ability to translate technical information into clear, compelling content. You’ll be confident managing multiple projects, working with stakeholders, and collaborating with design teams.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail.
* Experience producing long and short-form written content for different audiences.
* Ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
* Strong relationship-building skills, working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
* Hands-on, can-do attitude with the ability to work flexibly as part of a team.
* Ability to translate technical information into engaging, reader-friendly content.
* Comfortable working remotely while attending stakeholder meetings and events as needed.
Desirable Skills
* Experience in journalism or stakeholder engagement.
* Familiarity with briefing and working alongside design teams.
* Experience managing communications for large infrastructure or public consultation projects.
* Experience engaging with stakeholders face-to-face at events.
