Your Role
and What You'll Be Doing
The role of the Legal Assistant is to provide conveyancing admin support to fee earner colleagues (southern based) to allow them to provide quality legal advice and an exceptional conveyancing and leasehold enfranchisement service to our clients.
You will assist fee-earners with managing their caseloads of purchase, sale, remortgage, leasehold enfranchisement and other associated matters for both freehold and leasehold properties. More specifically, the conveyancing tasks you can expect to support fee earners with include, but not limited to:
1. Completing file openings and conduct conflict checks
2. Preparing sales packs; emailing managing agents and dealing with enquiries
3. Preparing initial protocol forms
4. Drafting contract papers
5. Completing Post completion documents
6. Preparing property search reports
7. Drafting documents including leases, statutory notices and lenders consent
8. Preparing letters to clients, banks, other solicitors etc.
9. Updating spreadsheets and keep track of statutory dates
10. Liaising closely with clients to keep them up to date on the progress of their work
11. Ensuring all appropriate documentation is recorded and updated as required.
12. Reprographics tasks including photocopying, scanning, binding and printing
13. Managing fee earner diaries and keeping them up to date with appointments, meetings and conference calls.
14. Supporting client meetings and events; arranging bookings, catering, issuing invites and distributing papers.
About You
We're looking for a Legal Assistant with a personable nature, who has a willingness to get stuck in and wants to join a close knit team. Our ideal candidate will have the following:
15. The ability to provide excellent customer and client service
16. Good IT skills, specifically high proficency in all Microsoft Office packages
17. A familiarity with HMLR, SDLT and conveyancing searches and documentation
18. Demonstrable experience providing support to fee earners within the Conveyancing/Residential Property space
19. Demonstrable experience working in an administrative/secretarial capacity, working with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
