Salary: £42,588 - £45,000 gross per annum Permanent 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday Norfolk Wildlife Services is a professional, experienced and dedicated team offering a comprehensive range of ecological and arboricultural consultancy services. All our profits are donated to our ‘parent’ charity, Norfolk Wildlife Trust for the benefit of nature conservation in Norfolk. Our focus is on providing high quality consultancy expertise to enable our client’s projects to move forward whilst ensuring protection and benefits for wildlife. Working with the Director of Nature Recovery and supported by the Senior Ecologist and Senior Arboricultural Consultant the Principal Ecologist will lead on securing and the delivery of contracted ecological and arboricultural surveying, monitoring and support services. They will provide leadership to the team to ensure that all work is delivered on time and to the highest standard. In conjunction with the Director of Nature Recovery and the Business Support Officer they will seek ways to grow and strengthen the consultancy business whilst maintaining all the required registrations and compliance with expected standards. In addition the Principal Ecologist will lead on the development of client relationships whilst also taking on the professional delivery and completion of a wide range of ecological consultancy projects on behalf of NWS clients. This will include undertaking licensed survey monitoring and mitigation works for protected species including at times being the Named Ecologist. The Principal Ecologist will also provide general wildlife conservation and management advice to clients, including habitat and species surveys, preparation of land/habitat management plans, and BNG assessment and advice. The Principal Ecologist will line manage the Senior Ecologist and Senior Arboricultural Consultant as well as provide leadership to the rest of the team. The post is full-time (35 hours per week) based at Bewick House in Norwich, with flexible working from home possible. The successful candidate will be required to undertake regular work outside of normal working hours, with Time off in Lieu provided. We are looking for someone with a degree in ecology or its equivalent and membership of CIEEM. In addition, you will hold relevant protected species licenses (levels 1 and 2 for bats) and be eligible as the named Ecologist on mitigation licenses within the past three years.
