Are you a registered Health Care Professional with an interest in Bone Health?
We have an exciting opportunity to join the bone densitometry reporting team on a part time (15 hour/week) permanent basis. You will become a part of a friendly, supportive, multi-disciplinary team.
We perform approximately 6,000 bone densitometry examinations per year across Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. The bone densitometry reporting team produce reports promptly to give recommendations to referrers on how to treat patients and support an improvement in their bone density.
We can be flexible on how the hours are arranged, and will provide full training to the successful applicant.
Main duties of the job
* The successful applicant will participate in all aspects of bone densitometry reporting service provision and provide support to operators to ensure excellent quality images are acquired.
* Monthly review meetings with the Rheumatology Service Lead provide a forum for learning opportunities and CPD to maintain competence.
* Working base can be the University Hospital of North Durham or Darlington Memorial Hospital.
* For appointment at Band 7 the successful applicant will have considerable knowledge and experience in bone densitometry reporting. For those applicants with less experience, appointment at Annex 21, 1 Year 75% Top of Band 7, will be considered and full training provided. This will include attendance at the DXA Reporting for Clinicians course facilitated by University of Derby.
Person specification
Qualifications & Education
* Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC) or equivalent registered healthcare professional, with a relevant healthcare BSc (Hons) Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in imaging or osteoporosis management.
* MSc or equivalent experience in post graduate specialist accredited training leading to formal qualifications in Bone Densitometry reporting for clinicians, plus specialist experience, knowledge and understanding in relation to bone densitometry interpretation and treatment recommendations.
* Candidates to have undertaken relevant training, coaching, and courses in relation to the specialist area of this post e.g. Courses and CPD opportunities provided by the Royal Osteoporosis Society Osteoporosis and Bone Health Academy.
Knowledge & Experience
* Knowledge of Trust policies, professional issues and radiation protection regulations (e.g. IR(ME)R17 and IRR(17)).
* Extensive knowledge of the guidelines relating to bone densitometry interpretation and treatment recommendations.
* Experience of teaching and training staff.
* Evidence of on-going continuous professional development (CPD).
Skills & Abilities
* Proven leadership and interpersonal/communication skills with evidence of participation in change management and practice development.
* IT skills for Radiology Information Systems (RIS), Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS).
* Committed to the improvement of patient care with a dynamic and flexible approach to care delivery.
