Senior Volunteering & Community Officer - Berkhamsted
Summary
We’re looking for a Senior Volunteering & Community Officer to join us at Ashridge Estate on a two-year fixed term contract.
You’ll be joining at an exciting and pivotal point in the estate’s history as we develop transformational plans to look after this special place for future generations as part of the ‘Protecting Our Roots’ project.
As a key member of the project team, you'll be responsible for planning, delivering and leading our community engagement plan to help us to build and strengthen links with local communities.
What it's like to work here
Based at the Ashridge Estate Office, your standard working week will be 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday. The role will require some flexible working including weekends, bank holidays and evenings.
Working alongside members of the project, property and portfolio teams, this is a great opportunity to work in a beautiful and diverse area of the country on a range of activities that will make a positive impact and help protect the estate for future generations.
If you love working with all kinds of people and you’re excited by the Trust’s cause – to protect and care for places so that people and nature can thrive – then this could be the job for you.
What you'll be doing
Your role will lead on our community engagement plan for the Protecting Our Roots project. Managing the development and delivery of our community outreach and ensuring the project considers our audiences, encourages participation, and inspires an interest in nature and its conservation.
Working alongside our existing project and property teams, you'll help to widen and deepen our existing relationships as well as finding new opportunities within our local community to engage with the project, Ashridge Estate and National Trust. You will create new roles for volunteer involvement in the project and manage their experience with the National Trust.
Working as part of the Protecting Our Roots project team, you'll line manage a team of two new Volunteering and Community Officers where you'll lead on their development and ensure exceptional delivery of the project aims.
Understanding how and why we engage with our supporters and local communities is key. Working with our spirit of place and project ambitions, you'll help to link everything we do back to our cause and the ongoing work we do.
