Eviction Support Group are one of the UK’s best-known eviction and housing law specialists providing legal support to new and existing clients throughout England & Wales in regard to landlord & tenant litigation. Typically, this is standard and accelerated possession matters, but can extend to defended proceedings together with advice on relevant landlord and tenant legislation.
Clients range from private landlords with a single property to large managing agents.
We have an exciting opportunity for a professional and focused Litigation Solicitor to play an integral part and senior role in the company based in our Torquay office on a part time basis.
We have a national reputation and pride ourselves on providing a high level of client care. Naturally, you will be an excellent communicator and will share our desire to provide the best level of service to clients.
Your role will include the following: -
Working in the company with 3 paralegals / case handlers, you will be responsible for assisting with the day to day running of the companies’ case load including contentious and defended matters. This will include the following tasks (this is a non-exhaustive list:)
· Property Litigation for residential clients, including but not limited to landlord and tenant disputes in relation to possession.
· Manage your own case load of clients and oversea a team of 3 paralegals / case managers.
· Deal with appropriate drafting and comply with court directions and orders.
· Taking instructions, keeping detailed file notes of instructions received and advice given.
· Advising clients on the progress of matters and periodically updating costs throughout matters.
· Supervising other members of the team as necessary.
· Issue possession claims on possession claims online system and complete paper applications for the court including manual applications, accelerated applications and warrant applications.
· Experience of working to deadlines with minimum supervision.
Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have over 3 years’ PQE and will have a real passion for landlord and tenant litigation. We will also consider candidates with a broad and general housing background.
Candidates will be able to demonstrate the following attributes: -
· Good knowledge of landlord and tenant law. However, inhouse training can effectively train landlord & tenant knowledge for candidates without specific knowledge in L&T
· Over 3 years’ PQE level experience.
· Ambition to build and grow network of clients.
· Good knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and litigation procedures
· A strong team work ethic and the ability to work effectively under pressure
· Drive, commitment, self-motivation and a ‘can do’ attitude
· The ability to always exercise discretion and professionalism
· Exceptional attention to detail
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From £30,000.00 per year
Expected hours: 22.5 per week
