Job Title: Junior M&E Quantity Surveyor
Location: Cambridge
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000

A national M&E Contractor is looking for a Junior M&E Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team in Cambridge. The company provides M&E services to a wide range of clients and businesses across a multitude of sectors including MOD, HMP, Commercial, Education, and Healthcare. These projects are typically valued up to £10M.
This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Junior M&E Quantity Surveyor to develop their career in quantity surveying within a supportive environment. The role is open to someone with experience in the M&E industry looking to come off the tools and step into the commercial side of projects or a newly qualified quantity surveyor graduate who is keen to gain valuable knowledge and guidance to various stages of the project lifecycle, from pre-construction to project close out from an experienced commercial team.
The successful candidate will be assisting the commercial and operations teams by helping manage all M&E financial and contractual aspects from initial calculations to the final account.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist in preparing project costs and contracts.
2. Assist in preparing tender documents, budgets, bills of quantities, and other documentation.
3. Collaborate with quantity surveyors and project managers, assisting with risk management and cost control throughout the lifecycle of the project to ensure successful project delivery.
4. Review client payment notices.
5. Help produce subcontract orders for the supply chain.
6. Support communication between clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure a smooth flow of information.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Experience in the M&E industry either from on the tools background or recent quantity surveying graduate.
2. Overall knowledge of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
3. Strong numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
4. The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines.
5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
6. Strong IT skills using Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
