You will be responsible for providing strategic advice and solutions to optimise recovery outcomes.
About the role
We are looking for a tax disputes specialist to join the London office at More London. Ideally you will be a qualified solicitor / barrister between one and three years PQE and have a keen interest, together with relevant experience, of working in tax disputes or other forms of complex commercial litigation. We will consider exceptional candidates who are not legally qualified but who have significant experience, over a number of years, of dealing with tax disputes.
What your days will look like
1. Day to day management of ongoing matters as part of a wider team, from liaising with HMRC and the Tribunal to helping manage client relationships.
2. Producing written advice for the client.
3. Drafting responses to correspondence.
4. Instructing Counsel, including preparing Instructions to Counsel and Notes of Conference/Consultation.
5. Drafting key documentation such as Directions, Notices of Appeal, witness statements.
6. Presenting case law and technical updates to the FS tax practice and at client events.
7. Client account management and relationship building.
8. Attending Court and/or meetings with HMRC.
This role is for you if
1. UK qualified Solicitor/Barrister or qualified Solicitor from another common law jurisdiction with 1-3 years PQE.
2. Exceptionally, where not a UK qualified Solicitor/Barrister or qualified Solicitor from another jurisdiction, a paralegal with significant experience of dealing with tax disputes or complex commercial disputes.
3. Excellent written and verbal skills.
4. Litigation and/or advocacy experience.
5. Project / case management experience.
