This post has arisen for a Consultant Radiologist within Clinical Radiology at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to support general radiology with special emphasis on MSK imaging. This is a permanent post.
The successful candidate will be based at Chorley and Preston Hospital sites, but we will also have some sub-specialty sessions at our new Community Diagnostic Centre.
Duties will include all those duties normally expected of a radiologist in a similar sized Radiology department in the United Kingdom. The majority of the appointee’s time will be spent on clinical duties. In addition, the appointee will be expected to take part in the formal teaching and ongoing audit programmes within the directorate as well as a full range of management duties commensurate with this role.
Any person who is unable to work full-time for personal reasons may still be eligible to be considered for the post and if appointed the job plan will be discussed on a personal basis in discussion with colleagues.
The applicant should hold or be eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview.
The successful candidate will be expected to provide cross-sectional imaging reporting and support for various MDTs.
The post will involve 10-programmed activities of imaging support (8 DPAs plus 1.5 SPAs and 0.5 for on-call).
Also, the post holder will:
* Demonstrate leadership through positive role modelling and team working.
* Provide a Radiology service as a member of the Directorate. This may be across all of our sites depending on Directorate service requirements.
* Assume a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure, in consultation with colleagues, that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty periods.
* Promote high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development.
* Work independently and under Consultant supervision as appropriate and supervise others.
* Take an active role in the management and organisation of the directorate including contributing to teaching, research, and audit.
There are also substantial opportunities for development or maintenance of other subspecialist interests.
The Radiology Directorate comprises Radiology, Neuroradiology, Ultrasound, Vascular (general) Interventional Radiology, Chest Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, including SPECT scanning and Oncological Radiology and Mammography service.
