About the Role
In this role, you will be reporting into the Global Engineering Manager, and will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of new electrical, control and automation systems for use in the Devro production process. You will determine best practices across all sites, and lead efforts to align standards. In addition, you will have the ability to lead problem solving of new or existing electrical and control issues whilst providing technical support to all sites in the group, together with other engineering disciplines and main stakeholders.
Responsibilities
* To design and implement systems and processes to improve product and process performance, safety and quality and be able to offer advice to others on Control Systems, Automation, equipment selection and specification
* Develop and modify PLC, HMI, and SCADA programs to ensure that the effectiveness of new and installed automation is to the highest level. Modification of these programmes as required to include alternative control algorithms and tasks
* Define, plan, and organise all aspects of a project including financial evaluation, control of budgets and timescales to meet the stated objectives of that project that will safely deliver defined quality goals
* Be able to generate prototype designs and solutions, conduct testing, and justify the preferred design
* Perform commissioning and testing of new plant or automation systems, assessing their suitability for their stated purpose, and monitoring the performance once the system is live
* Support improvements in Devro’s OT/Infosec systems globally. Liaise with others to establish best practice and support the transition across all sites. Have an understanding of and be able to utilise control communications protocols
* Link with all sites in the Group to develop and improve our electrical and control design standards and ensure adherence with agreed local and international system design and equipment protocols
* Ensure good communications between all sites to ensure a consistency of approach, foster mutual support between Control Engineers, and champion best practice between sites
Skills:
* An ability to troubleshoot and fault find in processes, whilst having an innovative approach to problem solving are essential
* A working knowledge of improvement techniques and methodologies would be an advantage Knowledge of Automation, and OT InfoSec best practice
* Must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, both internally and externally
Knowledge:
* Excellent knowledge of electrical control and design is essential
* Knowledge of electrical design standards is required
* Drafting of wiring diagrams and layouts using AutoCAD or similar would be an advantage
Experience:
* Should be degree qualified in Electrical or Control Engineering with substantial industry experience
