Are you an autism specialist with a passion for supporting students in higher education?
Randstad Student Support are looking for Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Workers to work with autistic students studying at Universities and/or Colleges in Dundee. A successful candidate must be experienced in working with clients with autism spectrum disorder.
The role is set to begin at the start of the new academic year (from 1st September 2024) and is a hybrid role. All successful candidates must be able to travel to the local University or college and offer both in person and online sessions flexibly to meet student preferences.
As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan that has been tailored to the student's needs and encourages them to become an independent learner.
As a Specialist-one-to-one Study Skills Support Worker, you are required to support students to:

1. Develop independence
2. Build on strengths and learning strategies
3. Create strategies around organisation and time management
4. Create action plans to stay on track with studies
5. Build on research skills - widening knowledge by using a variety of sources
6. Distinguish appropriate sources and how to correctly use references
7. Build on comprehension skills within reading and writing
Whilst working for Randstad the needs of individual students should be taken into consideration case by case and you should ensure that any concerns are addressed in a timely manner. It is expected that you would act professionally and maintain confidentiality within your role at all times, sharing all relevant information with Randstad to ensure the best possible service to your students.
Desirable skills include:

9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
10. Ability to identify ways of helping students to build on their learning strengths whilst
11. maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship
12. Punctuality and reliability
13. Good organisational skills
14. Ability to manage a caseload of students
