Job overview
The Walsall Early Intervention in Psychosis Team is looking for a dynamic and client-centred Nursing Associate to join our friendly team. We work with people aged 14-65 who have experienced a First Episode of Psychosis and those identified as having an At Risk Mental State.
If you are seeking a dedicated role within an experienced multi-disciplinary team and love working with people with FEP in a recovery-focused way, we want to meet you.
The Early Intervention in Psychosis Service (EIP) is a specialist community mental health team working with young people and adults in the three years following FEP, or those deemed at risk of developing psychosis. EIP adopts an assertive outreach approach and provides individualised, comprehensive, evidence-based interventions to optimise recovery, prevent relapse, and help individuals and their families cope with their experiences. In doing so, we aim to improve social, physical, psychological, and vocational functioning and reduce the short and long-term impact of psychosis in line with the EIP Care Pathway.
We are based in Dudley town centre covering the Dudley locality. Our office hours are Monday - Friday, and some flexible working will be considered.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will hold care coordinator responsibility for around 10 patients who have experienced FEP or have been identified as having an At Risk Mental State. This includes assessment, planning, and intervention under the supervision of your allocated Band 6 nurse. This will also include psychoeducation and family work, alongside generic care coordination to promote well-being, recovery, and empowering person-centred practice.
The post holder will participate in the development, delivery, and evaluation of EIP and will work closely with colleagues in their team as well as other agencies. Our MDT consists of nurses, occupational therapy staff, psychology staff, support workers, physical health staff, medics, and admin staff.
As an assistant care coordinator within EIP, you will work with your allocated Band 6 nurse to carry a caseload of around 10 patients with appropriate supervision. You will also be supported by the Team Manager and Clinical Lead. Regular supervision, team formulations, and opportunities to develop skills related to working with people with FEP and At Risk Mental States will be provided.
Working for our organisation
At Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we're building a high-calibre, diverse, and inclusive mental health workforce. One that will give talented professionals like you the opportunity to shape an outstanding service that will transform community mental healthcare and deliver happier and healthier lives across our communities.
The Trust is rated 'Good' by CQC (Care Quality Commission) and will become the lead provider for mental health services across The Black Country. We have recently invested in newly created clinical divisions and are currently developing new models of integrated primary and secondary care for adults and older adults, as well as launching a far-reaching inpatient strategy, working to eradicate dormitories and build new facilities.
This ambitious model is multi-agency and multi-disciplinary, opening the door for you to work collaboratively and flexibly with partners, service users, carers, and their families.
