We are expanding our Ecological Services team and seeking an Ecological Advisor. The role involves providing ecological advice and support for capital projects and business requests within Northumbrian Water. Working as part of the team, you will be undertaking environmental screening for our investment programme, to ensure that environmental impacts are minimised, all relevant legislation met, and biodiversity enhanced. This role will play a key role in supporting the wider ecological team to develop options to meet Biodiversity Net Gain requirements, including supporting the team in meeting ongoing maintenance and surveys. Another aspect of this role includes maintaining GIS ecological records. You will undertake ecological works, including assisting external ecologists with applications for protected species licences as required. A key part of the role will be providing ecological services and advice across both within the team, and across the business with support from the ecological specialist and direct line manager. You will also have ideally hold experience in screening projects to assess their environmental impact and have previously undertaken basic ecology surveys. An understanding and awareness of environmental legislation and policies is required, as is experience of collaborative working across a range of stakeholders.
