Job Title: Forest School Lead Department/Business Area: Cherubs Nurseries Location: Base- Cherubs Longdale. Working across all Cherubs Nurseries Hours - 9.30am - 6pm, 5 days a week. As Forest School Lead, you will apply your in-depth knowledge and early year’s experience to deliver all aspects of our service, including planning and facilitating purposeful learning opportunities, primarily in the outdoor environment. You will support each setting to meet each child’s individual needs through close monitoring and observations and ensuring our high standards are maintained. Alongside this, you will effectively collaborate and support the Senior Early Years Educators and Educators by being a role model, demonstrating high quality forest school activities and coaching and mentoring the team to deliver independently. Description of Duties Deliver: Deliver an amazing service, for both our children and families Work as an integral part of the Cherubs Nurseries Excellence Team to provide an amazing service, for both our children and families. Maintain strong, trusting relationships with all internal and external stakeholders. Deliver high quality Forest School Activities across all Cherubs Nurseries sites promoting the company’s ambitious curriculum for all. Develop a comprehensive plan of activities aligned with the children’s interests or nurseries current theme. Promote strong safeguarding practises and ensure policies are adhered to at all times, reporting any concerns to the designated safeguarding lead/management immediately. Provide monthly updates to all parents of the Forest School Learning and Activities. Support the nursery team by giving parents and carers a warm welcome and a concise and meaningful handover at the end of the day. Plan and deliver regular Forest School Stay and Play sessions in and out of opening hours, for parents to attend. Ensure you are up to date and compliant with all Cherubs Nurseries policies and procedures. Take Ownership: Take ownership in everything, always being honest and transparent Ensure paperwork is completed correctly, accurately and on-time. Ensure all risk assessments are completed for all resources used, and all activities are compliant with Cherubs Nurseries policies and procedures. Be aware of all children’s dietary requirements and allergies, and amend activities accordingly. Attend any training or updates related to the role to ensure best practise is delivered and feed back to the Excellence team. Review any changes in legislation and implement changes where required to ensure compliance at all times. Liaise with Head of Commercial and Compliance. Complete Blossom for small group activities by providing detailed and relevant accounts for each child, underpinned by the EYFS. Respect the natural world around us, and develop children’s and educator’s awareness of nature, wildlife and the outdoor environment. Leave the area as you found it. Each nurseries sensory garden/allotment, ensuring they are maintained, labelled and resourced. Commit: Commit to continuous improvement, always strive to be and do the best Present yourself in a professional manner at all times, always “dressed for service”. Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times both inside and outside of the workplace. Attend both in-house and external training, as required. Some of this may be outside of working hours, for example on a weekend. Complete all PLA training that is relevant to your role, ensuring this is completed within 7-days of issue. Embrace: Embrace creativity and innovation – these are what keep our service fresh unique and inspiring Assist in the thorough planning and successful delivery of a variety of activities (both indoor and outdoor) to maintain the children’s interests and to ensure the development of all children in-line with their own needs. Support the nursery team in improving the outdoor learning environment, liaising with the Excellence Team. Share ideas and activities via social media and email, for all nursery teams to be inspired and enhance their outdoor learning activities. Promote outdoor learning at Cherubs Nurseries in collaboration with the Social Media and Marketing team. Build: Build a positive and progressive team environment where everyone is united and able to shine Work under the direction of both the Head of the Early Years Practise and Provision, Excellence Team and each Nursery Manager, – absorbing their knowledge and experience to enhance your own. Work collaboratively with the Senior Early Years Educators to support in delegating and organising the team. Take an active role in being a mentor to all nurseries Forest School Lead’s, inspiring and shadowing them in activities. Set a schedule in your absence for the nursery forest school lead to continue to implement and provide feedback. Attend all staff events including parents evening, staff meetings and summer fairs, some of these may be out of hours and on weekends. Promote the benefits of Forest School’s to parents, carers and staff team. Undertake any other duties which may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of your duties. Your Qualifications and Experience Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent) GCSE Level Pass (4 or above) in both English and Maths At least 3 year’s experience working in a childcare setting Forest School Lead Training
