An opportunity for a Head of Accounts to permanently join an established £15m t/o wholesale and e-commerce business in South Hertfordshire is now available.
This role requires a QBE or a Part Qualified, hands-on person, who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and smooth running of the finance function.
You will also be managing 2 to 3 transactional staff. Initially, you will need to work from the office at least 4 days a week to learn the ropes, reducing to 3 days in 2 days WFH.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of monthly management accounts.
* Banking relationship - be the primary contact for banking relationships.
* Weekly bank reconciliations
* Control environment - including ensuring the process for spend approvals is managed and adhered to (as well as expense policies)
* Take ownership of the finance infrastructure, ensuring all processes and controls are scalable and automate where possible.
* Manage relationships with the external payroll company
* Manage relationships with our accountancy firm and liaise with them on year-end audits.
* Responsible for regulatory compliance e.g. VAT returns
* Overall responsibility for the general ledger, revenue & receivables to payables cycles.
* Establish and maintain accurate and appropriate records to ensure data integrity.
* Managing and developing a team of 2 - 3, accounts receivable, accounts payable and credit control with hands-on guidance and support.
Knowledge & Experience:
* Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures with hands-on experience in using accounting software
* Experience of using Xero
* Good Excel skills are essential, including lookups and pivot tables.
* Transactional finance management including invoicing and credit control responsibilities.
* Demonstrate SME/start-up experience with a background in process and control implementation and working in a hands-on environment.
* Excellent communication and team management skills.
* Qualified by experience, or CIMA/ACCA/ACA part qualified
* Experience of working directly with a founder as part of an owner-managed business is desirable.
