The post holder must be a qualified NVQ 3 Pharmacy Technician, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
We will help you develop your skills through comprehensive training by completion of our Ward Based Training Programme. You will be required to work under the direction of a Senior Pharmacy Technician within Clinical Ward Services. You will support them to manage a group of wards by prioritising your own workload. This will involve drug history taking and medicines reconciliation, undertaking audits, and liaising with other staff.
You will be required to contribute to the ACT rota or will be enrolled onto the course after 6 months if not already attained, helping the dispensaries at the end of the day.
The ability to deliver high-quality care and contribute to the overall success of the team is essential. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you must be flexible, reliable, and conscientious and be able to work in a busy, but driven environment, which may be on any site in the Trust.
Working weekends and Bank holidays are a core part of the post and on a rota basis, which incorporates 7-day working.
We are looking for hardworking Ward Based Technician(s) who are ready to start a career or looking for a change and excited to be a part of our team. We welcome applications from current students who are due to complete and register, and/or Community or PCN Technicians, and other sectors of pharmacy. We have a robust and detailed training programme to give you all the skills to succeed.
So if you are innovative, ready to be challenged, and interested in working in a patient-facing and ultimately rewarding environment, join our team!
It is an exciting time to join our Ward Based Pharmacy Team at Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust as we are now working in our new home, Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. We are continuing to develop the pharmacy service to meet the challenges of the Hospital Transformational Plan and the Carter report. Following significant investment, the Trust has successfully implemented EPMA across the whole organisation, alongside which we are leading the way working with ward-based automated medication storage Omnicell. The efficiencies gained from electronic prescribing and automation will assist the Pharmacy team in increasing our patient safety drive for Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in 2025.
