Your Role
and What You'll Be Doing
We are looking for a Paralegal to join our International Serious Injury Team in London. The position requires office attendance around twice a week.
Every year, thousands of people are injured in accidents while abroad. We assist clients in making holiday compensation claims or claims for injuries sustained while working abroad. Our lawyers have helped thousands of clients secure compensation following various incidents, including road traffic accidents and accidents at sea.
We have the UK's largest and most successful team of lawyers specialising in accident claims abroad, with several of our lawyers recognised internationally as leaders in the field. Our goal is to simplify the claims process for clients, handling cases with a compassionate approach that prioritises the well-being of clients and their families.
We are seeking a dedicated Paralegal to join Demetrius Danas’ International Serious Injury Team within our Personal Injury Department, based in our London office. This team specialises in international travel litigation, handling both individual and group action claims arising from accidents occurring abroad and in the UK.
Demetrius Danas has over 20 years of litigation experience, pursuing complex cases with a focus on achieving justice for clients. He has represented clients in over 40 jurisdictions worldwide and has particular expertise in dealing with complex jurisdictional and foreign law issues. Demetrius also specialises in accidents occurring on board ships and aircraft and has represented clients up to the Court of Appeal, the UK Supreme Court, and the Court of Justice of the European Union, achieving record-breaking results for those most seriously injured. He is an expert in Brexit-related issues as they apply to seriously injured clients, navigating their cases to successful conclusions in a post-Brexit world.
We’re keen to have you on board if you are a great team player and willing to learn quickly. You’ll manage your own caseload from the beginning, offering a fantastic opportunity to gain real, hands-on experience in a law firm.
Your role will involve, but is not limited to:
1. Taking instructions from clients and assisting with the provision of legal advice, including obtaining evidence and, where appropriate, assisting with litigation to achieve appropriate resolutions for clients.
2. Achieving time recording and fee income targets to ensure profitable working.
3. Attending and contributing to team/practice area meetings and complying with directions/decisions made to achieve team objectives.
4. Assisting in managing and maintaining case files, ensuring accuracy and organisation.
5. Supporting the preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
6. Keeping up to date with changes in relevant law and practice and attending appropriate training events to ensure up-to-date legal knowledge and best practices.
