Senior Ward Sister/Ward Manager for a 25-bedded intermediate care facility based on Ward F5 at St Luke's Hospital, Bradford.
Main Duties of the Job
Management of the intermediate care unit at St Luke's site, which is a nurse-led unit supported by our geriatricians.
The candidate will work both clinically and non-clinically to provide rehabilitation to patients requiring therapy who are medically stable.
Duties will include leadership of the nursing team and demonstrating a passion for high standards of nursing care for elderly patients.
Job Responsibilities
1. Nursing high standards of care, providing assurance of ongoing improvement.
2. Work in collaboration with other wards in the CSU to ensure a positive patient experience.
3. Maintain high levels of compliance with staff training and education, engaging with our practice development team.
4. Investigation of complaints and incidents, ensuring learning identified is shared across the CSU.
5. Management of clinical services in the unit, ensuring safe staffing levels and engaging in recruitment as required.
6. Sickness and performance management of employees based on the unit.
7. Management of budget, ensuring service is managed within the allocated budget.
Person Specification
Experience
* Acute medical nursing experience at Band 6.
* Regularly in charge of a ward.
* Delivered improvement in patient care.
* Worked within a multidisciplinary team.
Skills
* Ability to prioritise and problem-solve.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
* BLS trained.
* Ability to make decisions and escalate appropriately.
* Additional clinical skills (e.g., cannulation, phlebotomy, intravenous drugs).
* Ability to challenge practice and support staff.
* Knowledge and skills in Elderly and Intermediate Care.
Knowledge
* Understanding of Information Governance and Confidentiality.
* Understands how acute medicine patient flow works.
Qualifications
* Teaching and Assessing in Practice qualification (FLIP/ENB 6590/998).
* Diploma/Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience/working towards.
