REGIONAL IT ENGINEER – GROUP SERVICES
LEEDS/GATESHEAD
What you will be doing:
An opportunity has arisen for a Regional IT Engineer to join Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
Ideally, you will be based in or around Leeds or Gateshead.
Our support services team provides the Group with essential tools, systems, and advice, whether located within central hubs or embedded within operational businesses, to ensure excellent service delivery to employees and clients. Support teams include: Finance and Accounting, Company Secretarial, Risk and Internal Audit, Legal, IT, Human Resources & Training, Health, Safety & Sustainability, Corporate Responsibility, and Communications.
The main purpose of this role is to support and coordinate IT delivery to end users and the business. This includes incident and request management, as well as scoping and deploying new sites.
You will provide IT support to regional offices and sites, support other engineers, and handle remote support. You will also act as a point of escalation for customers and suppliers.
Part of your role involves scoping and installing new sites, gathering requirements, producing proposals, and managing IT installations, coordinating with internal teams and external suppliers.
As a customer-facing IT representative, a positive, 'can do' attitude is essential. You must be highly customer-focused, managing problems to successful resolution.
About You:
This is a customer-facing, dynamic role. Building strong relationships across IT and the business is crucial. Engaging positively with employees and suppliers, while balancing demands, will be challenging but rewarding. Providing seamless IT services will significantly enhance the work environment.
Competency Requirements:
* Excellent customer service skills, with clear expectation setting and delivery
* Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and suppliers, translating IT terminology effectively
* Ownership of workloads and decision-making for successful delivery
* Strong problem-solving skills for technical and non-technical issues
* Resilience and ability to prioritize escalations appropriately
Technical/Professional Expertise and Qualifications:
* Experience supporting, managing, and deploying Windows OS and related hardware
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office desktop and cloud applications
* Understanding of network technologies like MPLS, ADSL, G, and radio
* Experience with unified communications (VOIP, Skype Business); Video Conferencing experience is a plus
* Active Directory administration
* Familiarity with mobile technology and MDM solutions, e.g., Intune
* Months of experience in a customer-facing IT environment, preferably in multi-partner, process-driven settings
* Minimum qualification: A level standard
* Full UK driver’s license and ability to travel regionally, with a company car or allowance
