An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Occupational Therapist to help lead the Medicine and Surgery Occupational Therapy Team at the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath.
We are looking for an enthusiastic OT with operational and clinical leadership qualities, effective communication skills, a flexible approach and an ability to work under pressure.
This post will enable you to develop and utilise your specialist clinical skills within the specialty of Medicine and Surgery and to support the upskilling of junior staff. You will carry a clinical caseload, providing clinical leadership and promoting a strong profile for Occupational Therapy within the service and wider Multi-Disciplinary Team.
The Medical/Surgical Occupational Therapy Team at the Princess Royal hospital is well established and known for being friendly and welcoming. We take our UHSussex values of Compassion, Communication, Teamwork, Respect, Professionalism and Inclusion very seriously.
Although you will have responsibility (alongside current part-time team lead) for all aspects of your clinical service/area, you will work closely with the Therapies Site Lead, Operational Lead OT, and other band 7 colleagues to lead on quality, safety, education and innovation.
We are committed to continuing professional and personal development, and provide regular student placements.
If you feel you have the relevant experience and enthusiasm for this post then we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Head of Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapy Operational Lead, other Occupational Therapy Team Leads and relevant clinical colleagues/managers to ensure the provision of leadership, supervision; professional consultation, guidance and advice to the Medicine and Surgery Occupational Therapy Team.
2. Plan, deliver, evaluate and review an effective Occupational Therapy service by the Team to Medical and Surgical patients at the Princess Royal Hospital.
3. Professionally represent Occupational Therapy in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical services within our acute medicine service, holding responsibility for defined projects in agreement with the Head of Occupational Therapy, Therapies Site Lead and Professional Lead.
4. Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
5. Provide professional representation of the Occupational Therapy Service as a whole, including deputising for the Occupational Therapy Operational Lead in liaison with other Team Leads in their absence.
At UHSussex, diversity is our strength, and we want you to feel included to help us always put the Patient First. Your uniqueness and experiences will be part of our creative and innovative community where everyone is encouraged to succeed. We have a range of Staff Networks to help break down barriers, and can offer a buddy to help new members settle in. We’re proud to be a Disability Confident Employer (Level 2) and a Veteran Aware Trust.
We treat our patients and staff with the same compassion and empathy we expect for ourselves. We’re here for them when they need us, and we go above and beyond to meet their needs. This can be seen in our Wellbeing Programme for staff which is extensive and designed to support you when you need it, including where possible, flexible working to support work life balance - because we know that to look after others we must first look after ourselves.
As a university trust and a leader in healthcare research, we value learning, teaching and training so that we can be the best that we can be. From the moment you start with us and throughout your career we will help you to grow and develop. We hope that in choosing UHSussex you are choosing a long and happy career where you will be able to see the difference you make and feel valued for all that you do.
We look forward to receiving your application and the start of your journey with UHSussex.
