Associate Practitioner - Community Podiatry

This role will join the growing podiatry service in North East Essex. We provide all age podiatry care for people living with a wide variety of conditions impacting their feet. You will have the opportunity to work with our podiatrists, apprentice podiatrist, and closely with our colleagues in orthotics and wider MDT services.
For this band 4 role we expect you to have passed the Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Practitioner course. However, we are happy to receive applications from people who have experience and knowledge and are prepared to work towards this qualification. In this event, a band 3 development post would be considered while the course is being completed. Please make it clear on your application if you are wishing to be considered for a development role.
This role is full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30-16:30, subject to change upon needs of the service.
Main duties of the job
* You will work with the Podiatry service to provide high quality evidence-based podiatric care.
* This will include seeing patients in clinic and at home once competencies are completed.
* You will hold your own clinics, as delegated by the podiatrists, completing assessments and interventions within agreed competencies.
* You will escalate any issues of concern promptly to support effective patient care.
* You will also assist the podiatrists in clinics where a clinical assistant is needed, for example, this may include nail surgery, short return wound management clinics, workshops, and new patient clinics.
* You will provide a professional and efficient service to the patients within the service.

Person Specification
Experience
* Used to working with patients in a health care environment.
* Experience in foot health care or wound management.
* Experience of providing health education.
* Experience of taking physiological measurements such as ABPI, toe pressures, doppler.
* Experience of assisting minor surgery/nail surgery.
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
* Knowledge and skills acquired through a combination of formal, short courses, in-house training and experience to NVQ Level 2 or 3 or equivalent.
* Royal College of Podiatry Assistant Practitioner qualification.
* First aid at work certificate.
* Health coaching.
Knowledge
* Knowledge of common health conditions and disorders that affect the foot.
* Knowledge of the relevant strategic drivers and NICE clinical guidelines related to feet.
* Knowledge of the anatomy, physiology and functioning of the foot.
