Job Description
We are seeking Mental Health Nurses (RMNS) for our Specialist Mother & Baby Unit (MBU); this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team at Jasmine Lodge, a purpose-built 8-bedded unit in Exeter, Devon.
You will have the opportunity to work therapeutically with women, their infant and the wider families to support recovery and discharge.
Devon Partnership Trust Perinatal Service is a well-established one & nationally awarded (Positive Practice in Mental Health - Community Perinatal Team 2016 & 2018 winner). We have close working partnerships with our local Maternity Departments, Exeter University, Plymouth University & a well-respected Research Department.

Main Duties of the Job
The successful candidates will have excellent communication skills, commitment to working flexibly, participating in the internal 24 hours, 7 day a week rota to meet the needs of people who use our services, and be able to demonstrate effective working in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
This role is on a ward that operates on a 24/7 shift basis and therefore enables staff to qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to their basic pay.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate sound clinical decision making and clinical leadership skills for running the ward as the Nurse in Charge. We are looking for a person/family centered Nurse who is compassionate and caring towards the women in our care.
There will be an excellent level of professionalism demonstrated in the successful candidate who leads by example and supports junior staff through supervision and when leading the shift.
The successful candidate will be able to attend our newly designed perinatal mental health induction where they will be able to expand upon their knowledge and skills to assist them in care delivery.

Qualifications
Essential
* RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
* A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)
Experience
Essential
* Experience of Adult and/or perinatal mental health nursing and the nursing process.
Desirable
* Experience of inpatient ward working.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
* Knowledge of ordering, storing and administering required medications
* Knowledge of possible side effects of medication
* Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates)
* Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty safeguards
* Knowledge of CPA (Care Programme Approach) Multi-Disciplinary Working
* Understanding of Recovery principles in Mental Health
* Knowledge and understanding of both adult and children's safeguarding guidance
* Ability to form positive therapeutic relationships with service users, carers and other professional bodies.
* To be able to work on the internal ward shift rotation which includes night duties.
