We're not looking for superheroes; but we are looking for everyday people to do something incredible by providing a safe, stable, and caring home for a local child.
There's no typical foster carer and our amazing foster carers come from many different backgrounds. Your personal qualities and what you can offer to a child or young person are what matter to us. We’re looking for people who are patient, flexible, understanding, determined and keen to learn.
To be eligible to foster, you must be over 21 by the end of your assessment process and have a spare room, for the sole use of a child you look after, or plan to have one soon. Whatever your race, gender, sexuality, living arrangements, age and employment status we want to hear from you.
We have a comprehensive package of training and support we offer our carers and you will receive between and £413.72 and £545.36 per week per child depending on the age of the child you are caring for.
We also offer a one off £1,145.50, welcome payment, after successfully fostering a child with us for two months and we always welcome foster carers who would like to transfer from another authority or agency to Lancashire County Council.
In addition, we offer a word-of-mouth referral fee of £1,651.50 to any existing Lancashire foster carer or LCC employee who recommends someone who then goes on to become a mainstream foster carer for Lancashire. The name of the referrer must be given at the enquiry or initial visit stage. The fee is payable to the referrer when the new foster carer is successfully approved and fostering a child for a period of two months.
