Job description The MPP Project Delivery Excellence Group – Performance Lead assistant head role provides a functional link from government, MOD and Industry standards into DIO MPP programmes and projects to drive effective project delivery to performance achieved through deploying and embedding best practice, and standards within all Major Programmes and Projects delivery teams. Engaging across functional areas with a range of experts to enhance practices and ensure a value adding service. The role will provide solutions and frameworks ensuring alignment to policy, standards, guidance and best practice to encourage and support mature approaches to the management of Performance, Cost and Time (PCT) across a broad range of infrastructure programmes and projects. This includes the development of tools and techniques to provide accurate, timely and consistent information and drive forecasting maturity. Driving consistent application and utilisation of frameworks, process, and tools on a range of services, including Reference Class Forecasting data, for the development of accurate cost estimates for delivery. The objective of the Performance Improvement assistant head is to provide timely, accurate and consistent support and information to project delivery teams developing and embedding standard tools and templates. The function is responsible for compiling, analysing, and distributing data sets from a variety of different sources to support and assist delivery teams in producing accurate forecasting and management of PCT, as well as providing management information for executive performance reviews. The role will also establish what the key drivers are for ensuring robust estimation, investigating trends from historic data to contribute to reference class data to predict and prescribe more correct, reliable, and mature models. This role will report into the Project Delivery Centre of Excellence (PD CoE) DH and lead a team responsible for the effective application of risk, cost and schedule tools, techniques, and process. They will champion improvements and development of these practices through leading communities of practice and actively contributing to the PD CoE leadership team. This role will engage more widely, reaching out beyond MPP to discuss and gather a broader understanding on the practices from DIO, MOD, Other Government Departments, Infrastructure Projects Authority and industry to determine best practice approaches in project delivery to support and drive continuous improvement.
