Critical Care is an intensive care unit, also known as an intensive therapy unit or intensive treatment unit or critical care unit. It is a special department of a hospital or health care facility that provides intensive treatment medicine.
We have 20 critical care beds and can offer you broad experience in caring for critically ill adults in an innovative, challenging, and aspirational workplace.

Main duties of the job
To manage the ventilated, haemofiltered, and cardiovascularly compromised patient initially under supervision, whilst developing professionally, utilising competency-based Knowledge & Skills Framework (KSF) leading to autonomy of care when proficient, in conjunction with further development of management skills.
Support Nurse Team Leaders and Nurse team managers in the training and development of junior staff.
Demonstrate proficiency in the management of acutely unwell / deteriorating patients nursed outside the critical care setting, i.e., Recovery and Emergency Department.
Keep fully informed about changes in Critical Care, Outreach and update professional knowledge to meet the requirements for Revalidation.
Plan and deliver patient care to the highest standard utilising a holistic research-based model and including patient and relative involvement.

Qualifications / Training

* RGN
* Willingness to complete Diploma/ Degree in Critical Care Nursing.
Desirable:
* Post basic course ENB 124/ 100 / 920
* ENB 998 /City and Guilds 7307
* Evidence of continuing education
Previous Experience
Desirable:
* Ward experience within an acute environment
* Critical Care experience
* Critical Care shift leadership
* Mentorship training
* Awareness of resource management
Skills/ Knowledge
Essential:
* Good communication skills, both verbal and written
