Job Title: Group IT Engineer
Position Overview:
A growing organisation is seeking an experienced Group IT Engineer to oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimisation of their IT infrastructure across Yorkshire. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience in network systems, telecommunications, and hardware/software management, ideally within a hospitality environment. This role is pivotal in ensuring the IT systems are efficient, secure, and aligned with the organization’s evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities
IT Hardware Management:
* Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and optimization of PC hardware and software, ensuring all systems are up-to-date across all locations.
* Perform regular maintenance on communications cabinets and manage office relocations as needed.
Technical Support:
* Provide second-line technical support to end-users, addressing hardware and software issues promptly.
* Troubleshoot and provide support for property management systems (PMS), Wi-Fi, telecommunications, TV, and AV systems.
* Offer hands-on IT support to senior stakeholders.
Supplier Management:
* Maintain strong relationships with third-party suppliers to ensure consistent support.
* Procure IT equipment and services in a cost-effective manner.
Training and Development:
* Provide training and guidance to on-site IT teams, fostering a self-sufficient environment.
* Stay updated on emerging IT trends and technologies relevant to the industry.
Project Involvement:
* Participate in IT projects, including system upgrades, new technology implementations, and expansions.
Asset Management and Documentation:
* Maintain accurate records of IT systems, configurations, and procedures.
* Ensure property teams have access to relevant documentation.
Qualifications/Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience in IT end-user support/helpdesk roles.
* Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to resolve complex technical issues.
* Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
* Experience with remote administration and connectivity methods.
* Proficiency in Microsoft-based systems, including Active Directory, Azure, and Exchange (cloud and on-premises).
* Knowledge of networking protocols and LAN/WAN configurations.
* Familiarity with hospitality IT systems (e.g., Opera PMS, Micros, HotSOS, Mitel PBX/Dect, key access systems, and digital signage systems).
* Hands-on experience with Ethernet/Fibre patching and telecoms wiring.
* Ability to effectively communicate with both IT and non-IT stakeholders.
