Jobs with a purpose, join us and make a difference….
An opportunity to be part of something new and exciting. We are recruiting for workers to be part of our ground-breaking Parent Advocates and LEM (Lived Experience Mentoring) projects that have been produced in partnership between Southside and B&NES Council Children’s Social Care.
Our Parent Advocates support parents/carers who are involved with Social Care to help them feel part of the solution to achieve better lives for themselves and their children. This project addresses the power imbalance between parents and social workers; we aim to support parents to engage effectively with Social Care and to keep their children safe and thriving.
Parent Advocates help parents to better understand the concerns of agencies, know what options are available to them, and reduce or resolve any conflict with professionals. We support parents to get their voices heard.
Our LEM project provides early help for children, young people, and families to reduce the risk of involvement in violence. We support them and their families to prevent becoming a victim or perpetrator of violence and assist them in developing skills to resist involvement in violence and improve protective factors.
Your personal experience as a parent or in challenging situations can make a difference in building trust and supporting others. Previous experience of working with children, young people, and families is desirable but not essential. We do not prioritize formal qualifications for this job and place great value on lived experience. Supervision and training will be provided.
Please contact us by Friday 11th October, deadline of 4pm to express your interest in this role. Please write a couple of paragraphs about yourself, any relevant lived experience, and how ready you feel to get involved with this kind of work. Feel free to call us for a conversation; our staff team is friendly, helpful, and welcoming and will look forward to hearing from you. Provisional dates for interviews are 21st and 23rd October.
Click apply and submit your cover letter and a CV if you would like to. Please email recruitment@south-side.org.uk, or call 01225 331243 if you have any queries. To find out more about what we do, visit us at Southside and find us on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
