MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide frontline student support in resolving general queries within the timeframes stipulated by ACM’s Service-Level Agreement;
2. Maintain accurate records of student interactions including topics, actions taken and outcomes;
3. Refer students to appropriate team members for support with specialist queries;
4. Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of ACM’s policies and regulations, and legislation relevant to the sector;
5. Assist the wider Integrated Services team in making outgoing calls to students and prospects to provide general support;
6. Provide a first line of support and, if appropriate, act as student advocate in matters relating to Extenuating Circumstances application, Student Disciplinary procedures which are not related to student accommodation, Student Complaints. This includes:
1. Act as chaperone to meetings and hearings;
2. Advise on how to complete applications and forms;
3. Provide updates and support throughout the duration of procedures;
7. Provide general information, advice and support to students on aspects of their journey, including but not limited to:
1. Term Dates;
2. Assessment Deadlines;
3. Extenuating Circumstances;
4. Wellbeing Services;
5. Safeguarding Services;
8. Advise and support students in matters relating to accommodation including, but not limited to:
1. Finding accommodation;
2. Seeking housemates;
3. Dealing with relevant communications (e.g. complaints) from property owners, property managers, letting agents and the wider ACM community;
4. Early resolution of disciplinary matters relating to accommodation, in line with ACM’s Student Disciplinary Policy and guidance.
9. Support Industry Link with providing frontline advice and support to students on how to develop their career in the music industry;
10. Support Industry Link with organising and delivering extracurricular activities such as gigs and masterclasses on the London campus.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential:
1. Ability to develop good working relationships with colleagues and students;
2. Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced environment;
3. Qualified to degree level or equivalent experience;
4. Outstanding organisational skills and good decision making;
5. A creative problem solver;
6. Have a clear understanding of safeguarding requirements;
7. Used to working on own initiative, flexibly and prioritising effectively;
8. Ability to work effectively as a team player in a teaching, learning and research environment;
9. Excellent interpersonal skills: diplomacy, persuasiveness, ability to influence, inspire and engage constructively;
10. Experience working in the music industry either as an artist or another related role.
Desirable:
1. Awareness of current educational policy as it applies to teaching, learning assessment and quality;
2. Commitment to nurturing talent, recognising contribution and providing opportunities for professional development;
3. Understanding of regulations and processes relevant to Higher Education study;
4. Experience working in Higher Education.

This job purpose reflects the core activities of the post. As the Department and the post-holder develop, there will inevitably be some changes to the duties for which the post is responsible, and possibly to the emphasis of the post itself. ACM expects that the post-holder will recognise this and will adopt a flexible approach to work. This could include undertaking relevant training where necessary. Should significant changes to the job purpose become necessary, the post-holder will be consulted and the changes reflected in a revised job purpose.
