Who you’ll be supporting & more about the role: This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced specialist mental health support worker to work bank shifts in a brand new and rewarding service. You will be supporting a female with complex learning difficulties and mental health support needs, to lead her best life possible. We are looking to recruit some very special people to be available to support an amazing woman who has just finally realised her dream of moving into her own home. She has experienced a lot in her 21 years and will need a large team of talented and kind staff around her. She is right at the start of her independence journey and will need lots of support and understanding while she navigates through this. She brings a very quick sense of humour, a big love of pizza and a very stylish taste in music She can also be very funny and sweet. However, there won't be time to rest on your laurels - this role is going to be full on, and is going to need a highly skilled and patient team, as she is also capable of verbally and physically challenging behaviours. You will need to be cool, calm and resilient too You must have experience of working with people with complex mental health and associated needs to apply for this advanced role. We offer a high level of additional training and induction to all colleagues, along with specialist training to match the needs of person we support. You should also bring enthusiasm for the things she loves to do, and creative new ideas for her to get involved in. We are working in partnership with the person we support and her family to recruit the right team, and their views and opinions will be an integral part of the process of choosing the successful candidates. Your values: The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 in Social Care along with strong experience in mental health. If you do not have a qualification, you will need to have experience in social care and be prepared to take on additional training, that we will support you to complete. You will know how to connect with people and be passionate about supporting people to live independently. You will also be a brilliant mentor and share your skills and experiences with your colleagues. We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
