Support Worker
Daisy Nook Recruitment is proud to be working alongside a privately run residential home for children (10-16 years old), with homes based in Kettering, Northamptonshire. The homes are for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties. Our client is looking for Support Workers to join them on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a great career opportunity, joining a growing service right at a pivotal point.
The salary is between £24,375 - £29,175, dependent on experience. The hours are 42 a week on a 4-day rota basis; weekends and sleep-ins will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Support Worker
1. To work with children and young people according to their individual needs, providing focused work as planned and directed.
2. To assist in the co-ordination of activities within the Unit and ensure that they are well managed, providing safe and consistent care.
3. To be involved in and organize activities that are in the best interests and meet the needs of those looked after.
4. To assist the Manager in attending to the health of the children, arranging medical and dental examinations, and maintaining high standards of hygiene within the home.
5. To ensure security of the House, including contents, confidential records, cash, keys, furniture and equipment, residents’ clothing and possessions.
6. To participate in training courses as arranged and undertake professional training if the opportunity is offered through secondment.
7. To observe confidentiality at all times in relation to the Home and its residents, recognizing their vulnerability.
8. To engage in administration and report writing.
Must have:
1. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified to NVQ Level 3.
2. A minimum of 12 months experience working within a children's residential service.
3. Knowledge of child care legislation & regulations, human growth and development.
4. Understanding of the assessment & care planning process, health & safety, environmental health & fire regulations.
5. Basic understanding of Children's Rights.
