GENERAL SUMMARY The Head of Planning will be responsible for the strategic oversight and management of all materials-related activities for the Cathcart Manufacturing Facility. This role and its direct reports are responsible for collaborating with Project Management, Engineering, Production and Supply Chain teams to ensure timely procurement and effective utilisation of materials, managing the master production schedule, producing an achievable shop floor schedule and optimising inventory levels. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, supply chain dynamics, and project management. PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (But Not Limited to) • Lead a dedicated team to execute the site materials plan meeting customer requirements • Develop and implement materials management strategies aligned with project requirements and organizational goals • Analyse project demands and forecast material needs based on production schedules and lead times • Oversee inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of materials • Implement best practices for inventory turnover and minimize excess stock while avoiding shortages • Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead initiatives to enhance materials management efficiency • Lead and mentor the materials management team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development • Develop training programs to enhance the team's skills in materials management and supply chain processes • Ensure ERP master data integrity and review this regularly • Where slippages occur, ensure steps are taken and communicated to the Site Lead and relevant functional leads with a recovery plan • Responsible for reporting Materials related metrics to the organization ESSENTIAL SKILLS • Degree in Supply Chain Management, business, management or other related discipline. Masters in related field would be desirable. • Strong background in the management of materials and sourcing within a design and manufacturing • environment • Experience in total quality, six sigma, or other similar environments • Working knowledge and understanding of ERP/MRP systems (e.g. SAP or Oracle) and their use in a manufacturing environment • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access • Ability to demonstrate solid written and oral communication skills • ASCM (formally APICS) certification (CPIM or CSCP) or equivalent • Ability to obtain a security clearance is essential KPIs • Customer Need On Time Delivery • Manufacturing Need On Time Delivery (Production Schedule adherence) • Aged Shipments • Work Centre Utilisation • Work Order Aging • Exception Messages (Push-Out, Pull-In, Cancellation etc) • Excess Inventory • Factory Capacity Accuracy vs Actuals • Factory Hours Load vs Plan PERSONAL SKILLS & COMPETENCIES • Strong Interpersonal skills as part of working in a dynamic matrix organization • Strong adaptable individual with the ability to multitask with high work loads • Demonstrated critical thinking & logical skills with a proven track record in a complex factory environment. • Demonstrated capability to manage change • An analytical approach to planning and problem solving • Capable of helping to forge and foster a culture of continuous improvement • Able to effectively manage conflicting priorities • Ability to evaluate situations, assess impact and risk whilst advising on and justifying proposed course(s) of actions • A confident communicator both verbally and written YOU MUST HAVE VALID RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK AND BE ABLE TO OBTAIN SECURITY CLEARANCE TO APPLY FOR THIS ROLE.
