Job summary
These posts are based within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department of the University Dental Hospital and will be offered on a fixed term basis. These full shift posts are based within a busy unit offering wide experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The University Dental Hospital (UDH) is the only dental teaching hospital in Wales and is on the same site as the University Hospital of Wales (UHW). This hospital is a large teaching hospital with 968 beds and provides a full range of services including Accident and Emergency, Neurosurgery and a large Intensive Care facility. and also includes the Major Trauma Centre for Wales.
This fixed term post will commence as soon as possible and isuntil 2nd September 2025.
Main duties of the job
These full shift posts offer a wide experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial injuries, oro-facial cancer, disorders of the TMJ, salivary gland disease and dentoalveolar surgery.
Individuals will be required to undertake work within the A&E department as well as working in the wards, theatres and within the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department assisting in Consultant clinics, Oral Surgery Casuals, and the Examination and Emergency clinics.

1. BDS or Equivalent
2. Current GDC certificate or eligible for registration with the GDC at intended start date

3. Portfolio containing evidence of progression and development of clinical skills and professional development
4. Working towards postgraduate qualification or already obtained postgraduate qualifications (MFDS, MJDF or equivalent)
Experience

5. Completion of UK Dental Core Training Year 1 programme or equivalent by the time post commences
6. 24 months whole time equivalent postgraduate clinical experience to the full scope of a dentist by the time post commences
7. Evidence of teaching experience
8. Must not have spent more than 6 months whole time equivalent in a UK Dental Core Training Year 2 programme by time post commences
