Senior or Principal Ecologist

As a dynamic and growing business, this post requires a self-motivated and positive-minded Senior Ecologist to join a friendly team in Norwich. The successful applicant will be involved in all areas of work, supporting clients in a vast range of different sectors. Responsibilities include coordinating and undertaking protected species surveys and mitigation projects, advising clients of constraints and survey requirements, and report writing.
This position will provide a great opportunity to lead and deliver complex contracts, support more junior staff, draft high-quality reports, and review technical work, as well as support clients and their design teams by identifying solutions to their problems.

To be considered for this role, you will have the following essential criteria:
1. A full clean UK driving licence.
2. A degree or equivalent qualification (N/SVQ Level 5) in Ecology or a related subject.
3. Experience in ecological consultancy or equivalent sectors.
4. Experience of ecological field survey work.
5. Understanding of relevant UK environmental legislation.
6. Membership of (or working towards such) the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM), or equivalent professional body with a professional code of conduct.
Applications are particularly welcome from ecologists who meet the following desirable criteria:
1. Hold (or be working towards) one or more Natural England (or other equivalent) protected species licence and/or hold Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) Level 3 or above.
2. Experience in preliminary ecological appraisals and/or UKHab surveys.
3. Experience of managing projects to deadlines and budget. At least 3 years (min 5 for Snr) relevant experience.
