Garment Technologist Full-time - Hybrid Leeds Join Ben Sherman as we strive forward in the Menswear market. This is a key time to join the business and be part of our ambitious plans. We have an exciting opportunity for a Garment Technologist to join our dynamic team based in our modern Head Office at Thorpe Park, Leeds. Purpose of the role: To develop high quality product for Ben Sherman which our customer will love To follow garment development from initiation through all stages of production, working closely with the Design and Buying teams with the suppliers to ensure delivery of quality, fit, fabric performance and sizing to specification. Responsibilities: Reports to Lead Garment Technologist with following responsibilities: Take full ownership of one or two product categories and manage the following for those categories Responsible for the fit, quality, finish, testing and AQL Inspection record keeping Lead weekly fit sessions to achieve continuity or effective amends to the fit and development of garments Communicate effectively with suppliers overseas, using wording, diagrams, zoom calls Sending clear and accurate comments in a timely manner Understanding of quality of workmanship Keeping detailed records of measurements, comments and history of garment Keeping supplier scorecards up to date Evaluating and approving care labels Evaluate and approve or reject all samples from proto to Gold seals AQL inspection management – filing and approving & update CP Manage the critical path effectively for all above responsibilities Create fully graded specs and provide technical drawings where necessary Main contact for all Rejected and or returned orders Spot checking production by request at the warehouse when needed Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, identifying potential risks and opportunities Work closely with design and buy team Review fabric test reports and keep full records Keeping supplier scorecards up to date Key Skills and Experience: Friendly and approachable, working with multiple teams across different departments Confident and assertive Pattern cutting knowledge Able to meet new challenges with positive attitude Has relevant experience in fitting, testing and AQL processing Flexible, needs to be able to adapt to changes in their workday beyond their control (this could be attending a last minute meeting, changing work priorities or could be changing days worked from home to fit in with the team meetings etc) Can prioritise their workload, but can adapt their daily to do list when needed Can work independently and within a team Can work across multiple categories with different buying teams Helpful, able to cover for their teammates when needed Someone with an attention to detail, with good knowledge and experience of multi product development and construction methodologies Commercially driven, with experience of working with international suppliers and factories.
