This hybrid role will be working closely with the buyers in the Peak Pharmacy commercial buying team, purchasing NHS prescription products for our 140 pharmacy stores serviced centrally from our depot in Bolsover. The assistant buyer will support purchasing and stock control functions across all categories, 2,500 products across Generics, Brands and Parallel Imports, closely monitoring stock levels and values, and reviewing market trends.
Key elements of the role
* Building relationships with suppliers and internal colleagues, frequently holding supplier meetings and reviewing stock offers.
* Negotiating costs and supply for the product range and looking at opportunities to expand that range to grow the margin capability
* Working on new potential suppliers to drive profitability
* Tracking service levels and outstanding orders and ensuring systems are updated to achieve the service level KPI agreed
* Developing knowledge and understanding of the NHS drug tariff and reimbursement mechanisms including key category changes to understand their impact and required actions
* Understanding warehouse management systems and key elements to ensure stock levels are managed effectively.
* Taking on key reporting for the team including service levels, monthly rebate claims and supplier spend
