We are looking for an innovative and forward-thinking nurse to work within a developing community-based team - the Community Intravenous Therapy Service, within the Tameside and Glossop area.
The service launched in 2015, primarily providing intravenous medications in patients' own homes. The service has gone from strength to strength, developing new and outstanding nurse-led services including the development of a community clinic where we provide therapies such as venesection, iron infusions, Midline placement, and synacthen testing.

Main duties of the job
This role will require the post holder to work across community health care in Tameside and Glossop, supporting home intravenous therapy for patients discharged from Tameside Hospital and other neighboring hospitals. The post holder will support the lead in IV therapy and the band 6 nurse in the delivery of IV therapy across Tameside and Glossop. Proficiency in venepuncture, cannulation, and IV medication reconstitution and administration is essential.
The post holder will work in partnership with Tameside Hospital in assisting in a smooth and timely discharge home on IV therapy, and/or admission avoidance for patients in Tameside and Glossop community.

Education and Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Degree
* Teaching and assessing qualification
Knowledge
* Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
* Good working knowledge of contemporary health care issues and professional standards
* Willingness to undertake further education and training to acquire additional skills and qualifications necessary to carry out the role
* Knowledge of advanced vascular anatomy and vascular access devices
Experience
* Previous band 5 experience
* Experience of delivering IV therapy in an acute or community setting
Skills and abilities
* Excellent oral and written communication
* Ability to communicate at all levels
* Ability to contribute effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary team
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload
* Competent in drug calculation and use of infusion equipment
* Excellent peripheral venepuncture and cannulation skills
