About the Role
To manage a team of Registered nurses and Healthcare assistants ensuring the effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of high standards of holistic care for an identified group of service users. This role includes a need to cover nights when the rota requires as well as covering an on-call rota.
As a clinical team leader on the inpatient unit, your day will start with allocating the ward team their areas of work for the shift, before receiving handover for the patients in our care. During the week you will be involved in the morning admissions meeting to help prioritise and determine who will be admitted into our care that day.
You will play an active role in our multi-disciplinary team meetings, working with a variety of other healthcare professionals. You will also help to coordinate and carry out performance reviews for registered nurses and healthcare professionals to support their development.
You will also be encouraged to focus on developing yourself as a senior nurse, with the support of your line manager and great opportunities available to access a plethora of training and education.
Responsible to ensure effective performance management of all clinical staff in line with Sue Ryder policies and procedures for recruitment, induction, development, supervision, appraisal and discipline.
* The post holder holds the line management responsibility for Registered nurses and may hold the line management responsibility for Healthcare assistants.
* Responsible for working alongside and/or supporting volunteers within their team.
* Ensuring that all service users (or when they are not able, relatives) are given the opportunity to participate fully in the care planning process.
* Maintaining good communication and liaison with all other departments, internal and external to Sue Ryder, including junior doctors on placement.
About you
The successful applicant must hold a current NMC registration. You will need to demonstrate a holistic approach to patient care, knowledge of palliative care, management experience and contribute to the development of services. You will also require experience of people management / managing a team. This role requires you to be able to work various shifts covering a 24-hour service. This role is predominantly day shifts with occasional nights and some weekends.
* Experience in specialist palliative or neurological care depending on service requirement.
* Proven skills in leading, building and influencing in a clinical setting.
* Knowledge of current legislation within independent care sector.
* Demonstrable experience of practicing in a self-directed and highly motivated way.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to communicate difficult messages to service users and their families.
* Negotiation and conflict management skills.
* Able to effectively manage change and manage performance.
* An ability to provide teaching and mentorship in a clinical setting.
