Adecco are pleased to be recruiting for a Full Time Uniform Stores Assistant to join Gwent Police at their Cwmbran HQ.
You will be working 37 hours a week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. This is a temporary role.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to police vetting requirements, you must have been residing within the UK continuously for at least 3 years at the time of application. Anything less than this will not be considered.
Role Purpose:
To assist with the combined central stores function, ensuring that stores are operated in line with Policy and Procedures. This includes issuing uniform, PPE, printed Police Stationery, and IT software to all Gwent Staff members, recording and maintaining all stock levels, and assisting in providing a goods inwards/outwards service for Gwent Police.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the stores operation in line with policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to internal and external customers.
2. Maintain records in both manual and electronic formats as required.
3. Use the computer-based stock control system to support the function of both the Uniform Stores and PPE Stores.
4. Provide regular updates to the Stores Manager relating to Police Stores and General Stores to ensure best practices are maintained.
5. Assist in the Annual Uniform and Equipment Stock take ensuring financial regulations are upheld.
6. Ensure hazardous items such as blood contaminated waste are disposed of correctly in keeping with Health and Safety guidance.
7. Dispose of old uniform and equipment in accordance with Force policy.
8. Monitor stock levels daily and replenish from overflow stock room as necessary.
9. Take delivery of items for the whole Force Estate and advise recipients on delivery or collection.
10. Pack and distribute uniform and PPE upon receipt of approved requests and maintain records of dispatch.
11. Liaise with People Services concerning the collection of uniform for new recruits.
12. Report any defects or issues with equipment to the Stores Manager.
13. Assist in the production of epaulettes and sliders.
14. Perform minor repairs to equipment and recycle where possible.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. NVQ level 2, or equivalent, or relevant experience for the role.
2. Evidence of experience working in a Stores or other service area.
3. Experience in a front-facing and customer-based environment.
4. Experience recording information accurately on administration systems in a Stores environment including stock control, distribution lists, and KPIs.
5. Developed working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
6. Practical understanding of Health and Safety Legislation including COSHH, Manual Handling, and PPE.
7. Valid UK driving license as the role may require delivery/collection around the Force Estate.
