We are looking to recruit a Patient Support Advisor to join our Patient Support Team at Abbey House MedicalPractice.
The focus of this role is to providea complete reception and telephone triage service to our patients whilstmaintaining patient confidentiality and promoting the professional image ofAbbey House Medical Practice. You will also provide administrative support forall aspects of general medical business including scanning, prescriptionprocessing, filing of medical records & patient registrations.

This is a permanent part-time position - 25 hours per week Monday to Friday, with a 5 hourshift to be worked per day between 13.00-20.00.

Main duties of the job
We are seeking an individual who isenthusiastic, approachable, compassionate, organised and must be able to workas part of a team. Excellent customer service skills & the ability tomultitask are also essential in the undertaking of this role. The successfulcandidate must demonstrate good communication skills face to face, over thetelephone and written down plus be able to actively listen to both patients andcolleagues.
A basic knowledge of computers isessential. Previous use of Microsoft Windows or SystmOne would be an advantagehowever full training will be given.
Previous experience working in areception setting or experience of the use of appointment systems isdesirable.

Job responsibilities
1.Opening of premises, restoringtelephone and computerised appointment systems or at the end of Surgery -switching over of telephone systems, recording new messages (dependent whetheram or pm working).
2.Receiving and routing patientson arrival in an efficient and courteous manner.
3.Making new and follow upappointments, both face to face and via the telephone.
4.Handling general enquiries andpromoting the services offered by the Surgery.
5.Informing patients of cancelledappointments.
6.Receiving payments frompatients and providing receipts when required.
7.Completion of T/R formstogether with computer entries.
8.Using computer as required.
9.Leaving reception area/callcentre tidy and ready for incoming colleagues together with informationregarding unresolved or urgent information.
10.Making tea/coffee forvisitors/Doctors as and when necessary.
11.Tidying waiting areas whennecessary.
12.Dealing with all incoming andoutgoing post.
13.Ensuring sufficient stationerysupplies are available in reception and call centre.
15.Testing fire alarms on aregular basis.
16.Input change of address formsonto computer.
17.Making up of antenatal packs asrequired.
18.Photocopying and shredding asand when required.
19.Issuing self certificationforms etc for patients to complete.
20.Registration of all newpatients, preparation of their files and inputting information onto the computerin respect of immunisations, cytology results and rubella status for new femalepatients.
21.Scanning of correspondence,forwarding as necessary via e-mail and placing in patients electronic records.
22.Repeat prescriptions andassociated administration.
23.Update patients notes and addread codes as directed by the Doctors.
24.Ensuring summaries are addedaccurately to patients notes.
25.Keeping of accurate appointmentstatistics.
26.Clinical administrationsupport.
27.Any other duties that may be requiredand agreed by the Doctors and Practice Manager.
