BCUHB is recruiting a Urology Specialty Doctor for a fixed term of 12 months to be based in Ysbyty Gwynedd, Bangor, North Wales.
The post holder will join a multidisciplinary team that provides most of the urological services for the counties of Gwynedd and Anglesey (outpatient and inpatient care).
You will be actively involved in the provision of urological services to reflect changing patterns of delivery in line with national guidelines. Responsibilities include:
1. Provision with colleagues of a service in the specialty to the BCUHB with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and the proper functioning of the department.
2. Carrying out teaching, examination, and accreditation duties as required and contributing to postgraduate and continuing medical activity, locally and nationally.
3. Participation in clinical audit.
4. One day a week will be free of clinical duties. During that time, the post holder can pursue their own research interests or write up previous work.
5. Responsible to the Clinical Director (Surgery) through the Lead Clinician in Urology, with day-to-day responsibility to the Consultant to whom the Specialty Doctor is attached.
Opportunities available (depending on experience):
1. Participate in general urology outpatient clinics.
2. Manage one-stop ambulatory services mainly the Haematuria, PSA clinics, and LUTS clinics.
3. Have an independent Diagnostic cystoscopy list.
4. Participate in diagnostic Urodynamics depending on experience.
5. Participate in the erectile dysfunction clinic.
6. Provide day-to-day clinical supervision to junior medical and nursing staff.
7. Be involved in multi-disciplinary team & other clinical meetings.
8. Audit of clinical activities, evidence-based medicine, and maintenance of clinical governance will be expected.
