Job summary The post holder will work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, trust policies, guidance and procedures to ensure safe working practice of self and others. Main duties of the job Work as a member of the Ophthalmology services team and provide specialised nursing care for patients throughout the ophthalmic patient journey. This will include working across three sites which are Ophthalmic Pre-Op Assessment Clinic, General Outpatient clinic and the Intravitreal Service. Manage self and improve own performance To successfully complete all the competency frameworks set out by the departmental leads and develop detailed knowledge of equipment and specialised information on the procedures undertaken. In consultation with Senior Staff will assess, implement and set standards of patient care. Using own initiative have a problem solving approach to address any issues which may arise, escalating concerns to senior staff when appropriate. Ensures own appraisal is completed in a timely manner and works towards achieving agreed objectives. Develop an awareness of self, the knowledge of the limits of own competence and seek help and advice appropriately. Identify any knowledge gaps and fully utilise the learning opportunities available in order to facilitate continued professional development and the re-validation process.
