Are you a Graduate of Psychology, Education or a related subject, and considering a career in Primary or SEN Teaching? Does experience as a Graduate KS2 Teaching Assistant in a Primary school environment sound like the perfect stepping-stone? Would you relish working with SEN children in Yr3-6 to support their academic and pastoral development?
A friendly, caring Primary school in central Newcastle is looking for 2 Graduate KS2 Teaching Assistant candidates, looking to start from May 2025. As a Graduate KS2 Teaching Assistant, you will work 1:1 and in small groups with SEN children. You will be instrumental in supporting their academic and pastoral development, including helping them prepare for their SATs exams. You will work with children with complex needs including acute ASD, ADHD, and other learning difficulties on a daily basis, running small-group sessions and activities to help them access learning.
Job Specification
* Graduate KS2 Teaching Assistant
* Mon-Fri, 8.30am-3.30pm with a 30-minute break
* Daily rate (paid weekly) - £100 per day
* Work closely with SEN children aged 7-11 years old - ASD, ADHD, and other complex Learning Difficulties
* Support SEN children in-class, as well as in small groups and 1:1
* Tailor activities to best support your 1:1 child academically and pastorally
* Start May 2025
Character Specification
* Graduate in Psychology, Education or a similar subject - 2.1 or above (essential)
* Previous experience in tutoring, babysitting or working with Primary-aged children (desirable)
* Dedication to working with SEN children in Yr3-6 in a Primary school setting
* Aspirations to train as a Primary or SEN Teacher, Educational Psychologist or similar
* Resilient to challenging verbal and physical behaviours
* Patience when working with children is crucial
* Strong Primary-level academic understanding, in order to support with SATs exam preparation
