Purpose of the Post The IT Manager is responsible for managing the organisation’s IT systems at head office and remote sites, including the setup of satellite offices accommodating 2 to 5 staff. This role ensures the effective delivery of IT services and the implementation of secure, reliable technology solutions that support Amicus Trust’s objectives. Key Responsibilities 1. Policy and Procedures Develop and maintain IT-related policies and procedures. 2. Systems Administration Ensure backup and recovery processes are operational and effective. Manage user access to IT systems within agreed budgets. Maintain accurate documentation for software, hardware, system changes, staff access, and faults. Monitor and maintain system performance and hardware functionality. 3. Management and Expertise Provide subject matter expertise on networks, telephony, CCTV, applications, and databases. Design, optimise, and maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure for secure and reliable communication. Manage IT security, internal telephone systems, and hardware procurement. Lead a small IT support team, ensuring effective mentoring and performance. Oversee supplier relationships, ensuring high-quality service delivery. Produce operational performance reports and write SQL queries to interrogate CRM systems. Drive IT strategy development and oversee IT asset management. 4. Systems Support Ensure system availability, addressing faults and queries within agreed timescales. Provide user support with assistance from third-party providers as necessary. Manage daily system health checks, patching, and backups. Oversee support for core services like Active Directory, Email, and file/print services. 5. Infrastructure Deployment Lead IT projects from conception to completion, including user handover, training, and documentation. Play an active role in planning future IT strategies and adopting emerging technologies. 6. Budget and Financial Control Maintain accurate records for budgets and financial audits. Monitor IT expenditure to ensure it remains within agreed limits. 7. General Duties Ensure IT systems comply with confidentiality requirements and legislation. Promote the effective use of IT systems across the organisation. Carry out additional duties as required to support organisational goals. Person Specification Education Essential: Graduate level or significant experience. Desirable: Relevant IT qualifications (e.g., MCP, MCSE, MCSA). Work Experience Minimum of 2 years’ IT management experience and providing 3rd line technical support, or a willingness to develop this skill/knowledge. Technical Skills Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Server 2018), Active Directory, and Office 365. Expertise in networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, WAN, VPNs). Strong understanding of system security, including firewalls, malware protection, and encryption. Experience with SQL/MYSQL, CRM systems, and backup solutions. Desirable: Knowledge of VoIP, PHP, CSS, jQuery, ITIL, and cloud-based services. Personal Qualities Excellent organisational and communication skills.
