We are looking for a Pastoral Support Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join GLT and become an integral member of our Sandy Lane Team. Main responsibilities: To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all professionals, pupils and parents associated with the school and to promote the service using a range of methods. To support inclusive practice with vulnerable children and families., focusing on preventative and early intervention activities. To act as Lead Professional when appropriate through supporting the Common Assessment process and to actively promote the use of the CAF with all agencies including the SENCO, Headteacher and Behaviour Support Team to improve outcomes for children and families and minimise the likelihood of referrals to Children’s Social Care which could result in children becoming subject to Child in Need and Child Protection Plans. To keep confidential, accurate and relevant records and any other documentation pertaining to meetings/contact; assist in the process of quality assuring the CAF; track and monitor outcomes for children and young people and their family; review action plans and take corrective action if required. To become a key member of the supportive team around the child/family/school in order to access additional support from other agencies and improve the welfare and life chances for identified families. Responsibilities The post holder is responsible to the SENCO The post holder will adhere to the school’s values and vision; abiding by the agreed policies and procedures to ensure provision is of the highest quality Support families who have challenges in their life including having experienced domestic abuse, housing related issues, debt etc. Offer emotional support to cope with changes or deterioration in circumstances, and help with coping strategies Be assertive when dealing with challenging circumstances/family dynamics Offer parenting advice Offer advice about employment options, using the expertise of Jobcentre Plus and agencies working with families where worklessness is a major issue e.g. Skills UK You will need: Up to date knowledge and understanding of safeguarding guidelines for children, young people and vulnerable adults. Experience of working with vulnerable families. Experience of delivering individual or group-based support. Experience of multi-agency working, including health and social care. Confident and knowledgeable about the CAF process. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality. Knowledge of special educational needs. Up to date knowledge of current research regarding family dynamics and whole family working.
