We’re looking for a Image Engineer to join our Performance team in our Haywards Heath, West Sussex office. We love flexibility and hybrid working. We offer 4 days work from home and just 1 day in the office, but if you would prefer to be in the office more then that’s good with us In this role you’ll work within the existing engineering team, you will engineer and authorise vehicle repairs, produce inspection reports and make decisions regarding settling claims for total loss cases. You’ll also communicate with the customer to ensure claims are settled in the most appropriate manner whilst considering business requirements Core skills we’re looking for to succeed in the role: Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills Excellent time management skills Good communication skills, both verbal and written Nice to have skills, but optional: Commercially focussed Self-motivated and enthusiastic An organised and pro-active approach What’s involved: Engineer and authorise vehicle repair costs in accordance with manufacturer’s methodology while taking all aspects of the claim into consideration. Taking technical calls, producing inspection reports, and making total loss decisions whilst authorising supplementary estimates. Negotiate settlement of motor vehicles. Liaise directly with customers to ensure that claims are settled in the most appropriate manner to establish a correct market position for the vehicle, utilising vehicle valuation guides along with extensive market research. Communicate effectively and appropriately with customers and network of third parties (including but not limited to network of repairers). This will often involve explaining potentially complex decisions made in a way that takes account of the recipient’s level of technical understanding. In making and communicating decisions with Policyholders will be key when managing repairs, total losses, cases involving unrelated damage, complaints and applying policy conditions/limits. Identify fraudulent activity through investigative practice and liaison with claims colleagues, to correctly identify and advise on vehicle modifications which are non-standard to original equipment Support the total loss valuation handlers, as required, by delivering the valuation and settling claims where vehicles which have been deemed beyond economical repair or have been stolen and unrecovered. Engage with the network of third parties to develop a strong working relationship driving maximum efficiencies. Support all aspects of the business to assist in the claims process for both insured and third party in order expedite settlement and minimise cost Work to agreed timescales and business parameters, ensuring all work is carried out within agreed KPI’s and SLA’s. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with our company values. Comply with the requirements, and act in accordance with, the Group Code of Conduct and Fitness and Propriety policies at all times. Ensure compliance with Company Policies, Values and guidelines and other relevant standards/ regulations at all times. Any other reasonable duties. Experience & knowledge Experiencing of working within the repair industry, mechanical / body. Competent in automotive estimate systems. Experience of resolving complex customer / repairer problems / issues / complaints. Able to understand and interpret client requirements. Strong negotiating skills for rate agreement and delivery. Ability to prioritise and plan in response to customer/business drivers. Advanced computer literacy skills. Excellent time management skills. Enthusiasm and a willingness to learn new skills.
