We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team in an exciting and varied post as a clerical officer/receptionist. The successful applicant will be expected to be computer literate, have effective communication skills and maintain strict confidentiality. The role will involve a range of duties, both administrative and reception, to assist the Midwives and Support staff within a busy environment, helping maintain the smooth running of the unit. This is a varied role working within a busy team and will incorporate duties of a ward clerk, receptionist and clerical officer including early morning, late evening and night shifts and weekend working (enhancements are paid for out of hours working). The role requires excellent organisational skills, and the ability to be calm and patient under pressure. A smart and professional appearance and attitude is essential as is the ability to be flexible with regards to hours. The shift patterns are 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm and 10pm to 6am. There may also be normal working daytime shifts of 10am - 6pm. Shifts include weekends and bank holidays. Main duties of the job To provide a professional front of house service as the first point of contact for all patients and visitors to the Jessop Wing via the 24 Hour Reception and obstetric wards; maintaining confidentiality at all times and ensuring a high level of customer service is experienced by all personnel. To ensure high quality data is collected at every stage of the patient's journey through the obstetric, gynaecology and neonatal services capturing all admissions, transfers and discharges. Ensure patient case notes are available and prepared for the clinical team for admission and tracked at all times and documentation filed in patient case notes appropriately.
