Overview
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team to oversee the commercial packages on two local projects. The candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to the two ongoing projects, ensuring both projects remain within budget while achieving the highest standards. This role focuses on controlling costs, providing financial advice, and delivering accurate project evaluations, working closely with the management team, contractors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Management: Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring costs are controlled and remain within agreed financial limits.
2. Tendering & Procurement: Prepare tender documentation, evaluate contractor bids, and manage procurement processes for subcontractors and suppliers.
3. Valuations & Payments: Prepare interim valuations and final accounts, and handle the preparation and settlement of monthly payment applications.
4. Cost Reporting: Produce and present accurate cost reports and forecasts to senior management, ensuring transparency and accountability.
5. Contract Administration: Assist with the preparation and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
6. Risk Management: Identify potential risks related to project costs and advise on mitigation strategies.
7. Variations & Claims: Assess variations to the contract and prepare claims when necessary, negotiating settlements with subcontractors and clients.
8. Project Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure alignment between project delivery and financial objectives.
9. Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant legal and contractual requirements.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
2. Proven experience working on construction projects as a Quantity Surveyor.
3. Strong understanding of construction contracts and law.
4. Proficiency in cost control and project financial management.
5. Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
6. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
7. Strong numerical and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
8. Knowledge of relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, construction-specific software).
