The purpose of this post is to work as part of a multi-disciplinary Early Intervention Team providing care co-ordination and intervention to those identified as having an at-risk mental state or being in the early phase of a psychotic illness. To support the assessment of needs and delivery of interventions in line with currently identified best practice within early intervention work. To play an active role in service development supporting the team as we move towards implementing the early intervention team in psychosis access and waiting time standard.
Main duties of the job
Role Summary:
To participate in the provision of high-quality care. This will involve assessing, supporting, and monitoring service users who are experiencing first episode psychosis and those who are suspected of developing psychosis. It will involve working in a variety of community settings; it will include liaising and co-working with other services both statutory and non-statutory. It will involve working with carers and families of service users and will involve seeing service users' families and carers in their own homes, clinics, or in other environments such as hostels, supported living, residential, and nursing homes.
Key Responsibilities of the Post:
1. Work with clients who have suspected psychosis or who are presenting with a psychotic illness, undertake assessments including risk and specialist assessments such as SCI-Panns and CAARMS.
2. Plan, monitor, and review care packages.
3. Offer a range of psychosocial interventions including family interventions.
Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
* Good interpersonal and observational skills.
* Understanding of the problems associated with psychosis.
* Good communicator and ability to develop rapport with people.
* Ability to work within a team, flexibility, patience, and reliability.
* Have a full driving licence and use of a car or access to a car to take passengers/clients.
* Understanding of the impact of mental and physical health problems on a person's overall well-being.

The Early Intervention Team works with people ages 14-65 experiencing their first episode of psychosis or with those who are at risk of developing psychosis.

Person Specification
Education / Qualifications
* R.M.N. / RNMH / DipSW / SROT.
Experience
* Experience working with clients with serious mental illness.
* Experience of teamwork and effective communication at all levels.
* Ability to work independently in a community setting.
* Experience in the use of psychosis-specific semi-structured interviews (e.g. PANSS; CAARMS; PSYRATS).
* Experience working with clients with serious mental illness within an Early Intervention Psychosis Team.
Knowledge
* Knowledge and skill in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the care of clients with serious mental illness under the supervision of a senior clinical practitioner.
* Knowledge of legislation that underpins the care of those with serious mental illness.
* Knowledge of NICE guidance applicable to those with psychosis and schizophrenia.
Skills and Abilities
* Able to work within workload deadlines and prioritise workload.
* To organise, plan, and implement own work under the supervision of a senior clinical practitioner.
Work Related Circumstances
* Able to work flexibly in working hours required to meet client needs.
* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.
